You never stay the same; you are either regressing or progressing. I’ve heard it said this way before, you are growing or slowing dying. Here is something to try: At the end of each day, as you are brushing your teeth, look in the mirror and honestly answer: how did I grow today?
I loved his advice to his former self: learn from your past but don’t live in your past.
When he was talking about competing, he said that he doesn’t mind facing better competitors because he is either winning or he is learning. I think that’s a powerful notion. Being afraid to lose is one of the things that can keep us in a game that is too small for our potential.
