What nice thing did you do today for someone else? (#108)
/

My guest today, Marc Jeffreys, is a very successful entrepreneur and author.

He has written 2 books: The Secrets of Retailing: How to Beat Wal-Mart, which caught the attention of Ariana Huffington and led to him writing nearly 100 articles for the Huffington Post, and his second, most recent book is "I don’t want to turn three," written from the standpoint of a toddler.  His passion is inspiring grandparents to get more involved in the lives of their grandchildren.

Bobbi's Takeaways

I love the passion that Gramps displays for this topic!  Here are my 3 insights for thriving:

  1. I loved his suggested question that we ask kids – and I would include ourselves – what did you do today that was nice for someone else?  As I mentioned  in the interview, we grow in the direction of what we focus on and the questions that we ask ourselves.

  2. Something that I really took away is that we need to be proactive in how we interact with grandkids or in my case nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.  We can’t sit back and wait for them to reach out to us.

  3. Something that I often think about relative to my nieces and nephews is what do they learn when they are around me.  And, I want to be really clear on this:  I’m not trying to teach them anything.  I’m not sitting down with them and saying, “I want to teach you a lesson “ or some such thing.  I mean, what do they learn by the way that I live my life.  What I hope that they see is that I am the author of my life and I own the good and the bad that goes with that.  But, I go after my dreams.  And that would be my sincerest hope for them – as well as anyone for that matter.
